Update: May 29, 2001: The Friedman House in Bannockburn, IL was recently on the market for just over $1 million, and sold to a buyer who intended to demolish it or rennovate it extensively... but amidst public outcry, the buyer apparently decided to cancel the purchase, not showing up at closing. Since then, the house has sold to a new buyer who does not plan to tear it down! Closing is scheduled for July 23, 2001. Check back for more info as it becomes available. Thanks to ALL of you who wrote letters and made calls to save this important example of America's mid-century modern architecture!
