Orgone Chair
The chairs on this page are mostly from mid-century, but this awesome design by Marc Newson catches my eye and deserves to be shown also! The look is 60s if you ask me, and the styling is superb! Designed in 1993 in cast alloy, the Orgone chair is now sold in a variety of colors. (source: minimadesign.com)

This is a "4201" chair designed by Arne Jacobsen, 1966, made by Fritz Hansen.

Semi-Spherical Lounge Chair
Designed by Christian Daninos in 1968. Clear acrylic shell with graduated fabric seat cushions on a welded steel cantelever frame. This pic is an example of early production.

Peacock Lounge Chair

"Kugelsessel" Fiberglass Lounge Chair
A large fiberglass lounge chair called "Kugelsessel", designed in 1968 by Gunter Beltzig for Gebruder Beltzig. Green painted fiberglass form with seat recess. Gebruder Beltzig specialized in the production of fiberglass furniture for outdoor use.

Variant Ball chair
Variant Ball chair designed by Eero Aarnio in 1966. Clear acrylic shell with steel frame to edge, with vinyl padded seat cushions. Silver enameled metal pedestal, with a metal arm attached supporting a steel plate. This conversion of a hanging ball chair was one of a handful that were adapted as a special request for use as telephone chairs in the headquaters of the BASF building in Arnhem, Holland.

Elephant chair
Elephant Lounge Chair designed by Bernard Rancillac in 1966, made in very limited quantities by Galerie Lacloche. Red polyester form on a black enamelled welded steel frame. This chair was later reproduced by Michael Roudillon in 1985 in a limited run of 100 examples produced in a range of five colors. (photo: artnet.com)
Tulip chair
Designed by Eero Saarinen, 1955-57. Plastic coated aluminum base and fiberglass shell chair. Made by Knoll International.

Grasshopper chair
Grasshopper chair by Eero Saarinen in the late 1940s, of bent wood and upholstery.

Harp chair
Harp chair designed by Jorgen Hovelskov in 1957. Hovelskov is primarily an architect. Originally made by cabinetmakers Christensen & Larsen; later by P. Jeppesens Mobelfabrik of Denmark.

Hans Wegner "501" chair
Designed by Hans Wegner in 1949, this chair was originally manufactured by Johannes Hansen of Copenhagen. Knoll has produced this design under license, as well. Originally with a cane wrapping on the back to conceal the joints, the chair was later made without the cane wrapping. Although the design is officially catalogued as the no. 501 by its manufacturer, it has become widely known as "the chair", as in THE chair, by its fans.
